A method for controlling movable components (100, 220a, 220b) of a machine-tool (M) of the type using at least one means for moving any component (100, 220a, 220b, 330) provided with a means for tracking the stroke thus achieved, as well as a means for detecting the load produced by said moving means, characterised in that said method comprises monitoring, during certain operations other than machining, the load produced by said moved component (100, 220a, 220b, 330) in order to obtain information relating to the value to which a load value previously defined as a threshold is exceeded. The invention also relates to a software product (20) for implementing said method and is useful for monitoring tool changing operations, the positioning of machine-tool components and the adjustment of machine-tools.
