<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antireflective coating composition, an antireflection film, and a fabrication method thereof, wherein mechanical strength and antireflection performance are improved. <P>SOLUTION: The antireflective coating composition comprises: an initiator; and an oxide-containing colloid including colloid particles having polymerizable functional groups. Since the film composed of the antireflective coating composition is constructed from stacked colloid particles, a plurality of nanopores are distributed, and further, fluorine-containing functional groups can be introduced therein. Thus, the effective refractive index (N<SB>eff</SB>) of the antireflection film is remarkably reduced to ≤1.45, and its reflectivity is suppressed to ≤3%. The colloid particles is crosslinked with each other since they have polymerizable functional groups, thus the mechanical strength and hardness thereof are made extremely excellent.
