PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a user's load when a file stored in a directory is moved out of the directory, and the empty directory is deleted, to prevent operational errors. SOLUTION: In a file management system for hierarchically managing files, a processing to delete a specified directory is set to be carried out after all files belonging to one or more specified directories are moved to a directory to which the specified directories belong.
