PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydraulic power transmission device equipped with a torque limiter for suppressing excessive torque at abrupt starting and abrupt braking in a simple structure. SOLUTION: A hydraulic power transmission device 10 is provided with a torque limiter mechanism in which a releasing recessed part 42 for supporting in a floating state a washer member 36 on an end surface of a housing 12 for supporting an inner peripheral side of the washer member 36 is separately formed into a plurality of parts in circumferential direction corresponding to a cam slope of a cam surface 16 and high pressure oil is drained through deformation of the washer member 36 to the releasing recessed part 42 when oil pressure applied to the washer member 36 through the medium of a suction communication passage 34 exceeds the predetermined set pressure.
