PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydraulic shock absorber having reduced cost and weight by reducing the number of components while supporting a rod with high rigidity without causing tilting or fall-down relative to the axis of a cylinder. SOLUTION: The hydraulic shock absorber 1 comprises a rod guide part 11D with its inner/outer diameter smaller than that of the cylinder part 11A, integrally formed at the axial front end of a cylinder part 11A of the cylinder 11, a bush 12 fitted to the inner periphery of the rod guide part 11D in close contact therewith, and the rod 21 supported on the inner periphery of the bush 12 in close contact therewith.
