The player has a rotary unit coupled to another rotary unit that is coupled to a drive motor (117) for rotating the disk during loading and unloading and to stop the rotation of the disk during pickup conveying. A switchable rotor transmits a rotating force from one unit to another unit. A rotation switching unit is coupled to the units during disk loading and unloading, and is decoupled during final stage of the loading. The player has a drive motor that is driven when a disk is in the player and stopped when no disk is in the player. One rotary unit is coupled to another rotary unit for rotating the disk during loading and unloading and to stop the disk rotation during pickup conveying. A switchable rotor is coupled the units to transmit a rotating force from one to another unit.
