<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crystal-orientated ceramic comprising a polycrystal of a perovskitic compound containing at least Ba and Ti, having a pseudocubic face ä111} with a high degree of orientation, having a high relative density, and being easily amenable to compositional control and a method for producing the same and to provide an anisotropically shaped powder used therefor and a method for producing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The anisotropically shaped powder is characterized in that it comprises as the main phase the second perovskitic compound containing at least Ba and Ti, its development face comprises a psendocubic face ä111}, and the aspect ratio (W<SB>a</SB>/t<SB>a</SB>) is 2 or greater (wherein t<SB>a</SB>is its thickness, and w<SB>a</SB>is the greatest length of the development face). In one embodiment, the crystal-orientated ceramic is characterized in that it comprises a polycrystal containing as the main phase the first perovskitic compound containing at least Ba and Ti, the pseudocubic faces ä111} of the individual crystal grains constituting the polycrystal are orientated, its relative density is 97% or higher, its mean particle diameter is as small as 5 to 2 μm, and its mechanical strength is high. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
