METHOD OF MANUFACTURING POLARIZER, POLARIZER, POLARIZING PLATE, OPTICAL FILM AND IMAGE DISPLAY DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a polarizer by which a PVA based polarizer hardly causing deformation under high temperature and high humidity and having excellent durability is simply manufactured and the PVA based polarizer.

SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the polarizer has a dyeing step for dyeing a PVA based film, a fixing step for fixing the PVA based film with a fixing agent and a stretching step for stretching the PVA based film. In a cleaning step for cleaning the PVA based film passed through each process, the PVA based film is impregnated with a polyfunctional compound having at least ≥2 reactive functional group capable of covalent bonding with hydroxyl group and a part of the hydroxyl group in the PVA based polymer is cross-linked by the polyfunctional compound.
