<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method with which the speed of a tape drive is optimized. <P>SOLUTION: The system for operating a system is provided with a host computer, a buffer, a tape drive and a tape have; and the method includes a stage in which data is written in a tape during the tape is running at a 1st speed; a stage of stopping the tape; a stage to determine a 2nd speed optimum for driving and running the tape; and a stage to drive the tape and to make it run at the 2nd speed, while writing subsequently the data in the tape. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
