PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate useless heating, by heating a cooking vessel by a proper combustion quantity fit for a diameter of the cooking vessel. SOLUTION: Mantle covers 50a and 50b for covering a space from above for making combustion exhaust gas flow out after heat exchange, are properly used in response to a diameter of the cooking vessel, and the inside of a vessel body is provided with a microswitch 55 for turning on by abutting on its detecting piece 54 when placing the mantle cover 50b for a large diameter side cooking vessel P2. A controller 21 burns a cookstove burner 4 by a combustion quantity for providing maximum heat efficiency in response to the diameter of the discriminated cooking vessel P by discriminating a kind of mantle cover 50, that is, the diameter of the cooking vessel P placed in a trivet 5 by discriminating the existence of an ON signal of the microswitch 55.
