PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the deformation of a coil spring of a door closing device even if a sliding door lifts. SOLUTION: The door closing device for a showcase has the coil spring 4 provided at the upper part of the sliding door 2 of the showcase to energize the sliding door 2 moving to open/close guided along a rail, always urged in a closing direction. The coil spring 4 is fastened to a fixing metal fitting 9 with one end connected to an upper rail 7 and with the other end mounted to the sliding door 2. The upper end part 9a of the fixing metal fitting 9 is projected upward from the upper face of the outer peripheral surface of the coil spring 4. When the sliding door lifts, the upper end part 9a of the fixing metal fitting 9 collides against the upper rail 7 ahead of the coil spring 4.
