PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet recording apparatus which prevents an ejection port surface of a recording head from sticking to a cap abutting on the ejection port surface, and which can realize a reduction in cost and environmental protection by abolishing a wasteful packaging material for the recording head. SOLUTION: This inkjet recording apparatus is equipped with the cap 53 which is brought into close contact with the ejection port surface 51 of the recording head 3 so as to seal an ejection port, and a fixing means for fixing the recording head 3, mounted on the recording apparatus, in a predetermined position. During the physical distribution of the recording apparatus, the surface 51 is capped by interposing a sheet member 59 between the surface 51 and the cap 53 in the fixed state of the recording head 3.
