PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motion picture reproducer capable of reproducing a motion picture in which uniformity of screen rate is not guaranteed in real time. SOLUTION: A motion picture includes a partial motion picture having a frame rate different from a reference frame rate. A video encoder 18 reproduces such a motion picture at the reference frame rate. A CPU 26 calculates the difference between a first number of frames required for reproducing the partial motion picture in real time, and a second number of frames being obtained by performing periodic frame interpolation on the partial motion picture. The CPU 26 performs frame decimation by a number of times corresponding to the calculated difference on the motion picture dispersively. The CPU 26 further performs frame interpolation by a number of times corresponding to the second number of frames on the partial motion picture. The motion picture is reproduced in real time by frame decimation and frame interpolation. Furthermore, motion of a partial motion picture is smoothed by frame interpolation.
