PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new Bifidobacterium proliferation-promoting composition having strong acid resistance, and to obtain a new Bifidobacterium proliferation-promoting composition using laver as a raw material and having strong acid resistance. SOLUTION: This Bifidobacterium proliferation-promoting composition comprises glycerol galactoside or contains glycerol galactoside as an active ingredient. The glycerol galactoside is preferably collected from laver belonging to the Porphyra, the family Rhodophyceae, especially preferably from laver having a protein content of≤30%. The Bifidobacterium proliferation-promoting composition can also be added to an acidic drink or acidic food to keep the Bifidobacterium proliferation-promoting ability. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
