<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator system capable of storing control panels in addition to a car, a balance weight, and a running guide rail in a shaft in as compact manner as possible, reducing cross sectional area of the shaft to save a space in a building, arranging a plurality of control panels by dividing them by utilizing a surplus space left after dividing into a plurality of sections by various equipment in the shaft, and performing maintenance and inspection of the control panels safely. <P>SOLUTION: This elevator system classifies and divides constituent equipment in the control panels to be driven and controlled depending on frequency and degree of importance of access for allowing a person in charge of maintenance to perform maintenance and inspection, divides and stores into the plurality of control panels, and divides and stores depending on distance index from an opening and closing part and an opening space, namely, ease of access when performing maintenance in the shaft or a place such as a door and a wall face other than a landing place hall.
