PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simultaneously achieve energy saving effect and odor prevention without providing a humidity sensor or the like. SOLUTION: This air conditioner for a vehicle is provided with a compressor 2 to feed refrigerant under pressure, an evaporator 5 to absorb heat from air to be blown into a cabin for evaporating refrigerant, a first temperature sensor 20 to detect intake air temperature on the air passage direction upstream side of the evaporator 5, a second temperature sensor 21 to detect evaporator temperature, a wet-bulb temperature-determining means to determine wet-bulb temperature based on the intake air temperature and the lower limit temperature of the evaporator set for preventing freezing of the evaporator, and a compressor control means to control the compressor to keep the evaporator temperature over the lower limit temperature, and below the wet-bulb temperature.
