CLEANING APPARATUS AND METHOD

A cleaning apparatus comprising an ultrasonic working tank (10) containing solvent (12) through which contaminated items are passed (14). Contaminated solvent (12) is removed for cleaning using a flocculation tank (30) and filter (44). Additives may be added to the solvent (12) to modify its properties. The cleaned solvent (12) is then re-used to clean further contaminated items. The invention aims to reduce the amount of solvent (12) used in a cleaning process in addition to reducing the volume harmful contaminants released into the environment.
