[Also in Division H1] A method of image recording comprises exposing imagewise a photo-conductive coating having a low adhesive surface, depositing a material thereon electrolytically transferring the deposited material to another recording element and returning the coating to a state suitable for re-use. An aluminium support is coated with a mixture of ZnO and copoly butadiene-styrene and then a silicone resin to provide a low adhesive surface. Polyethylene, or fluorine, containing polymers may also be used to provide the low adhesive surface. The aluminium support may be replaced by metallized paper or plastics. Nitrocellulose, polyvinyl acetate, carboxymethyl cellulose or polyvinyl alcohol may be mixed with the silicone resin which may be in the form of a wax or oil. A mixture of three dyes may be added to give sensitivity over the whole visible spectrum. To obtain a full tone reproduction the element is successively exposed through red, blue and green filters and electrolytically developed between exposures with an appropriate dye. The final image is transferred to a baryta sheet by pressing the sheet against the element, the sheet being coated with gelatine and moistened with water. The residual image on the sheet is removed by washing with water. The electrolyte used is an aqueous solution of silver nitrate, thiourea and acetamide. |
