SOLUTION: In the surface emitting laser element, at least one of a pair of distributed Bragg reflectors includes a second resonance region 114 that is different from a resonance region 107 made up of an active layer 105 and resonator spacer layers 104, 106, and the second resonance region 114 is provided in the region exclusive of the range from a center of the current injection region to a predetermined distance.
