PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a polyimide film having a higher level of heat resistance, high-frequency adaptability and flexibility, excellent in electric insulation due to reduction in an amount of craters on a surface of the film, defects caused by bubble break and immanent pores, and superior in evenness of mechanical strengths. SOLUTION: This method for manufacturing the polyimide film comprises producing a green film with self supporting property by coating a polyimide precursor solution on a substrate and drying it, and then heat-treating the green film at 150-500°C, wherein a rate of a residual solvent, when it reaches to 200°C in the heat-treating step, is controlled to 3-25 mass% to produce an imide.
