ACCUMULATION CHAMBER TYPE FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel injection system having high reliability and property optimized by eliminating defects of a prior-art injection system for minimizing the accumulated volume of fuel between a pump and a fuel injector.

SOLUTION: The injection system 1 comprises a pump 7 for feeding fuel to a common rail 6 with high pressure to be supplied to a plurality of fuel injectors 5. The pump 7 has at least one pump element 18 to be operated with reciprocating motion having a compression stroke Pi-Ps along a sine curve 24 in synchronization with each stage of fuel injection. The injection system 1 has at least bypass solenoid valve 14 which is controlled by chopper control units 16, 28 to adjust the discharge of the pump element 18 with a change of both a discharge starting point T0and a discharge finishing point T1during the compression stroke Pi-Ps in such a manner as to synchronize the discharge with the injection stage.
