<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical communication system and an optical test device capable of executing an optical test efficiently at a low cost. <P>SOLUTION: Optical identification markers 10-1 to 10-4 having respectively different Brillouin shift frequency bands are formed in terminal side optical fibers 4-1 to 4-4. Test light of a single wavelength is made incident on a main line optical fiber 2, reflected light from the downstream side of a light splitter 3 is heterodyne-detected and a beat component is extracted. By measuring Brillouin shift frequency indicated by each beat component and its intensity spectrum, each of the terminal side optical fibers 4-1 to 4-4 is prescribed to detect the existence of a fault. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
