The interior of the pipe (28) is filled with high-density material, to sink the aerator (20) in e.g. an aeration tank. The material is concrete, scrap metal or sand. Discs (24, 26) are fastened to each end of the pipe. These project out beyond the circumferences of both pipe and hose (30). The discs are circular. Alternatively they are non-round; being especially polygonal. One end of the pipe contains a chamber (36). Radial holes connect it to the interspace between pipe and hose. The compressed air enters through the nearby disc (24), from the air connection (44).
