<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for image processing, and program therefor, capable of performing trimming processing with a good balance. <P>SOLUTION: An eye detector 30 detects the respective positions of both eyes in a photographic image S0. A body inclination detector 50 detects an inclination of an upper portion of a body against a face. Based on the degree α of importance of the body being set by an importance degree setter 80 and the degree of body inclination and the direction thereof, a trimming center line setter 60 obtains a trimming center line M' by correcting a face center line M, which passes through the center point between the both eyes and orthogonally intersects with a straight line connecting the both eyes, in such a way as to incline the face center line M to the direction of the inclination to a larger extent as the degree of inclination and the degree α of importance are larger.
