PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems that recording of a moving picture is temporarily interrupted when a still picture is photographed while photographing the moving picture and advanced technology which is not easy for a general user is required for recording the still picture while watching a video picture while photographing the moving picture in a video recording/reproducing apparatus such as a video camera. SOLUTION: The video recording/reproducing apparatus automatically performs so-called follow-up reproduction for recording a video signal (moving picture) under photography in a recording medium 23 for moving picture, displaying the video signal on a view finder 19 and reproducing it by delaying it for appropriate time, then a video of the follow-up replay is displayed on a monitor 18 and a video signal read from the recording medium 23 to be displayed on the monitor 18 is separately recorded in a still picture memory 21M as the still picture.
