PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a texture reproduction system that can realistically reproduce the texture of a sample object on a simulation object different in reflection characteristics from the sample object by means of a projection display means. SOLUTION: The texture reproduction system comprises a first computation means 105 for computing a luminance image of a sample object 7 in a predetermined observation position according to reflection characteristics of the sample object 7, a second computation means 109 for computing a luminance image of a simulation object 9 different in reflection characteristics from the sample object 7 in the predetermined observation position according to the reflection characteristics of the simulation object 9, a third computation means 111 for computing a difference between the luminance image of the sample object 7 and the luminance image of the simulation object 9, a fourth computation means 115 for computing a projective luminance image for offsetting the difference according to the difference, and the projection display means 11 for projecting the projective luminance image on the sample object 7 and/or the simulation object 9.
