PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a personal digital assistant having a dictionary storing a message by a small data amount without storing a message having the same meaning by a plurality of dictionaries, and to input the dictionary to the personal digital assistant from the outside to newly generate a dictionary inside the personal digital assistant. SOLUTION: This personal digital assistant has: a storage device storing a standard dictionary storing a message correspondingly to a message number, and a special dictionary storing a message that is the message having the same meaning as the message stored by the standard dictionary correspondingly to the message number and different from the message stored by the standard dictionary; and a message selection part selecting the standard dictionary and the special dictionary on the basis of a display mode, and retrieving and outputting the message.
