PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable capacity fluid coupling with a simple structure, capable of largely adjusting and changing transmittable torque capacity. SOLUTION: In this variable capacity fluid coupling, a fluid coupling 3 is constituted by installing a pump impeller 8 in a clutch piston 29 for constituting a clutch 2 of a torque converter 1, and installing a turbine liner 9 in a turbine hub 27 of a turbine impeller 22 of a torque converter 1. When fastening the clutch 2, torque capacity can be largely adjusted and changed by superimposing the torque amplifying action by the fluid coupling 3 on the torque amplifying action of the torque converter 1 itself.
