PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive coating composition which comprises no PbO nor Bi<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>as a raw material, reduces the environmental load, is excellent in acid resistance and alkali resistance and emits a reduced amount of released gas, a mixture, a paste and an electronic component having a coating layer comprising the paste. SOLUTION: The coating composition used is prepared by adding ceramic to a glass composition comprising 30-45 mol% phosphorus oxide, 45-60 mol% zinc oxide and 5-15 mol% at least one alkaline earth metal oxide chosen from the group consisting of calcium oxide, strontium oxide and barium oxide.
