A method and a device for removing the chips of a connecting rod. The large end part (6) of the connecting rod (1) is placed on the step part (54) of a pedestal (50), and the small end part (5) thereof is placed on a pedestal (48) formed of a vibration damping material. An air vibrator (26) is energized to continuously supply compressed air to vibrate the large end part (6) together with the pedestal (50) until the vibrated large end part (6) is brought into contact with a contact plate member (30). When chips fall from the rod body (7) and the cap part (8) of the connecting rod, the chips are collected to a transparent collection bag (64) through a suction hose (60) by a dust collector (28). The operations above are performed in a sound isolation box (32) closed by a cover member (74). Then, the chips are separated from the broken-out sections of the rod body (7) and the cap part (8) by using, for example, a brush.
