<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording/reproducing apparatus which can start to record from a head position when a reservation time arrives, even if the apparatus has recorded or reproduced during the waiting for a reservation recording. <P>SOLUTION: In an auto mode, a VASS signal is recorded at a recording start position of a tape. The VASS signal of the tape is reproduced to cue the tape up to the recording start position, when predetermined time earlier than the reservation recording start time.
