<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection display optical system in which the capacity factor of rays is enhanced and the favorable quality of images is obtainable and to provide a projector with the optical system. <P>SOLUTION: The projection display optical system is equipped with an irradiation module, a spectral module, and a projection lens head, and is used for a reflection type display unit, wherein the spectral module is equipped with a reflecting mirror and a rotatable color wheel; the color wheel consists of a necessary optical filter block and forms a passage where rays are reflected by the color wheel and the reflecting mirror; when the reflective beam is made incident on the color wheel at a prescribed incident angle and reflects a plurality of times by passing through the reflection passage of the rays formed between the color wheel and the reflecting mirror, a range of a plurality of different wavelengths is generated and the color beams advancing through the passages of different rays are irradiated to the reflection type display unit; and the reflection type display unit is divided to a plurality of color block images such that the projection lens head projects a plurality of the color blocks to a screen. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
