PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sensor having cut-off frequency. SOLUTION: A metal optical filter, equipped with optical cut-off frequency capable of functioning as a sensor, is provided. The present metal light filter includes a dielectric layer equipped with a first surface and a second surface in near-parallel, and a metal layer formed on the first surface of dielectric layer. The metal layer is equipped with a hole with a cross section configured so as to form a periodic grid, while the hole contains a material having refractive index. By altering the refractive index of the hole or by altering the cross-section of hole, the optical cut-off frequency of metal light filter can be corrected. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
