An olefin metathesis process and a catalyst composition suitable for such process comprising (a) rhenium, (b) one or more metal(s) from Columns 5 and 6 of the Periodic Table, and (c) a support made from an alumina; wherein surface area of the catalyst is at least 200 m²/g as determined by ASTM D-3663-03.
