<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance performance regarding avoidance of deviation from a traffic lane when visibility is poor. <P>SOLUTION: This apparatus performs lane deviation avoidance control in which it detects white lines on a road from an image of an area in front of one's own vehicle and avoids deviation of the vehicle from a traffic lane if, based on the result of the detection, it detects that the vehicle tends to deviate from the traffic lane. If no white lines on the road are detected from the image of the area in front of the vehicle (No: step S9) and if it is detected that the vehicle is traveling on road-surface irregularities provided on the white lines (Yes: step S13), vehicle control is effected whereby the vehicle is guided to a center position inside the traffic lane (step S15-S16). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
