PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper handling device provided with a delivery part of a path changing means pressed merely in one direction by a spring or the like and a paper guide positioned on its right downstream side to deliver a bundle of papers onto a delivery tray securely without causing jam and folding of an edge of a paper. SOLUTION: When controlling a gap a between a shift guide plate and a branched guide plate by turning the branched guide plate, this paper handling device classifies papers depending on paper size by specifying (1) a = 2 mm in the case of paper having size of B4 or more and a = 4 mm in the case of paper having size of A4T or less. This device classifies papers depending on the number of bound papers by specifying (2) a = 2 mm in the case where the number of bound papers is 30 or less and a = 4 mm in the case where the number of bound papers is 31 or more. This device classifies papers depending on binding mode by specifying (3) a = 2 mm in the case of binding in one section and a = 5 mm in the case of binding in a plurality of sections. This device classifies papers depending on paper passing mode by specifying (4) a = 3 mm in the case of ordinary paper mode and a = 4 mm in the case of thick paper mode. In the case of job of (5) size of A3 - binding of 30 papers - binding in two sections - ordinary paper mode, this device classifies papers depending on combination of each condition by giving priority to a condition in which a value of a becomes the largest value among the conditions.
