A host device (2) can read out information from a card (1), write information in the card, and supply a power supply voltage which belongs to a first voltage range or a second voltage range smaller than the first voltage range, and issues a voltage identification command (CMDV) to the card. The voltage identification command includes a voltage range identifying section (VOLS), an error detecting section (ED), and a check pattern section (CPS). The voltage range identifying section includes information indicating to which of the first voltage range and the second voltage range the power supply voltage belongs. The error detecting section has a pattern arranged such that the card receiving the voltage identification command can detect the error thereof. The check pattern section has a preset pattern. |
