<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a membrane electrode assembly for a fuel cell in which three-phase interface is increased, gas permeability is expanded, and utilization rate of catalyst can be increased, thereby power generation efficiency is improved, and its manufacturing method. <P>SOLUTION: The membrane electrode assembly 11 comprises at least a catalyst made of a wire-shape material 12 and a solid polymer electrolyte 13, and particulates 14 are adhered on the surface of the wire-shape material. The particulates are composed of platinum, an alloy containing platinum, or a mixture containing platinum. This is the manufacturing method of the membrane electrode assembly for the fuel cell which has at least a catalyst made of a wire-shape material adhered with particulates on the surface and a solid polymer electrolyte membrane. The manufacturing method includes a process in which particulates are formed on the surface of the wire-shape material by a chemical vapor deposition method, vacuum vapor deposition method, sputtering method, or reduction method. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
