PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for changing the status of a mobile apparatus, generally, particularly based upon the velocity of the mobile apparatus. SOLUTION: A communication system of the present invention determines a first position of the mobile apparatus at a first time, determines a second position of the mobile apparatus at a second time, determines the velocity of the mobile apparatus by calculating the difference between the determined first and second positions, changes the status of the mobile apparatus to a sleep state, and ends a call that the mobile apparatus is involved in, if the velocity of the mobile apparatus exceeds a predetermined threshold.
