PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a conducting polymer which is useful as a component for an electrochemical device and has a high conductivity, and to provide a preparation process therefor. SOLUTION: The preparation process for the conducting polymer comprises carrying out polymerization in the presence of a polymeric monomer, a surfactant, a solvent and an oxidizing agent, in the initial condition of the polymeric monomer concentration of 0.20-2.8 mol/L and the molar ratio of the surfactant to 1 mol of the polymeric monomer of 0.8-1.6 mol and the conductive polymer obtained by the method is also disclosed.
