The device for the transporting of persons has a tube (1) extending in a predetermined direction and in which an atmosphere is realized to enable the usual breathing. A roadway (3) is provided within the tube for travelling by a means (10) of forward movement operated by muscle power, such as a bicycle. An airflow generator (15) creates a directed airflow in the predetermined direction of motion and is of such strength that it supports the movement of the means of forward movement in the predetermined direction of motion. Independent claims are included for the following: (A) a method for the individual forward propulsion of persons in a tube entailing the provision of a directed airflow; (B) a use for the tube in which there is a continuous airflow and used to assist forward movement of a muscle-powered means of forward movement; and (C) an element for a muscle-powered means of forward movement for use in a tube in which is created a continuous airflow, with a large contact area for the airflow.
