DISK DRIVE APPARATUS INCLUDING A PROTECTION AGAINST EJECTION OF A CRACKED DISK

A disk drive apparatus provides protection against disk fragments to exit the housing (1) if a fast rotating disk (D) cracks. For this purpose, the tray (3) includes an integral raised portion (6) on the side of the disk receiving recess (4) adjacent to the opening (2). The disk drive housing includes a barrier portion (7) which overlaps at least partly with the raised portion of the tray in a direction perpendicular to the tray. This barrier portion is positioned adjacent to the raised portion when the tray is in the closed driving position. The invention provides a very simple, effective and integrated protection against ejection of disk fragments.
