<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing environment effective in operational cost reduction of a printing machine without changing largely a print setting set in print data by a user. <P>SOLUTION: A host computer 3000 connected to a printer 1500 via a network 121 sets priorities to a plurality of setting items of print setting which can be set in the printer 1500.
