<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of forming a stable image at the secondary transfer even when an electrostatic quantity of toner is changed according to fluctuations of environment conditions and toner density. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus, a toner image on an image carrier is primarily transferred to an intermediate transfer body, the toner image is transferred from the intermediate transfer body to transfer material by a secondary transfer means and a cleaning means that cleans residual toner on the downstream side of the secondary transfer means is disposed, wherein a secondary pre-transfer destaticizing means that applies a charge to the toner image on the intermediate transfer body between the primary transfer position and the secondary transfer position of the most downstream side is disposed. A prescribed image pattern is formed on the intermediate transfer body, thereafter, a change amount of current flowing through a cleaning member upon the cleaning of the image pattern is detected and the control is performed so as to determine charge applying conditions of the secondary pre-transfer destaticizing means according to the change amount of detected current value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
