<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle deceleration controller capable of decelerating a vehicle while keeping the vehicle in a stable condition, using a technique for coordinating a transmission and a braking device to control vehicle deceleration. <P>SOLUTION: The vehicle deceleration controller, which causes deceleration by controlling a braking device 200 that produces a braking force on the vehicle and a transmission 10 to coordinate with each other, includes means 92, 118 for detecting, estimating or predicting the vehicle's running stability. If the vehicle's running stability is detected, estimated or predicted to be low, the rate at which the transmission causes deceleration is made lower than if the vehicle's running stability is not detected, estimated or predicted to be low.
