PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video editting apparatus capable of enhancing an edit efficiency and edit accuracy when applying a special effect to a video image. SOLUTION: A video recording section 109 records video data. An image frame display means 101 reads the video data and displays an image in a prescribed timing. An input operation section 111 acquires input operation information produced by an input operation. A special effect image display means 103 displays a special effect image on the basis of the input operation information. A special effect information recording means 105 records an image frame displayed by the image frame display means 101 and the special effect image displayed by the special effect image display means 103 to an edit data recording section 113 associated with each other. An image frame composite means 107 composes the image frame displayed by the image frame display means 101 with the special effect image displayed by the special effect image display means 103 and provides an output of the composed image.
