PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an oxygen-containing organic compound in good efficiency while suppressing side reaction of a substrate and decomposition reaction of the product when using an unsaturated bond-containing compound having high reactivity as a substrate. SOLUTION: The method for producing anα,β-oxygen-containing carbonyl compound or its solution comprises carrying out liquid phase oxidation reaction using theα,β-oxygen-containing carbonyl compound as a substrate and using a peroxide as an oxidizing agent. In the production method, the liquid phase oxidation reaction is carried out in≥0.84 and≤1.10 raw material molar ratio of the substrate/the peroxide oxidizing agent in the presence of a radical reaction inhibitor.
