Control of an automated gearbox by measuring of the speed of the range selector

The method involves selecting a transmission gear from a set of transmission gear stages by a control apparatus corresponding to data and input that are provided by an operator with an aid of a gear range shifter. An automatic transmission is driven in a fast gear mode and creeper gear mode, where the control apparatus evaluates adjustment speed of the gear range shifter to select the gear mode. An independent claim is also included for an apparatus for controlling an automatic transmission.
