The tunneling machine, with a driving shield, has a shield driving assembly (1) with a spoil removal system (10) with a throttle (9) between it and a screw conveyor (5), with at least one pair of facing rollers (13,14). The rollers rotate in opposite directions away from the spoil removal. The roller rotation action gives a combined to and fro movement to the spoil, so that heavy silt and coarse fractions are carried off without changing the drilling action or a need to feed additives.
