The apparatus has an input for the supply of a video signal (VS), and a signal processor (13) for processing of the video signal. A display is provided for the image representation, provided with a video signal. A detector (17, 18), supervises a given range before the screen (11) on objects existing within the range, and a detection signal (S18) is produced. The video signal (DS), which can be represented, is formed in accordance with condition of the detection signal (S18) from the supplied video signal (VS).
